Statuesque Argonauts

This painting is of two adventurers - one male and one female, engaged in their quest and landing at the shoreline where they've turned to statues. The deteriorating surface (the red part) was purposely painted to symbolize that this is not an attempt at representing reality, but of creating an illusion of a third generation picture of another painting.
